After winning the Berlin championship, Doberstein became a professional boxer with only 18 years at Sauerland. But when Manfred Wolke , former coach of Henry Maske, left Sauerland, there was no further cooperation between Doberstein and Sauerland. Doberstein went back to Saarland to his coach Sergej Ostrovski. In 2011, he signed a three-year contract with Dog Event Boxing , which ended December 31. In 2012 he became a German champion among the senior citizens. He defeated Christian Pavlak on points (10 laps). In 2012 he became IBF junior world champion after 7 rounds by technical KO against the Polish Michal Nieroda . In March 2013 he won the WBF intercontinental title against Spaniard Blas Miguel-Martinez (12 rounds, point victory). In September 2013, he successfully defended his title (12 round point win) against the South African William Gare . In the 10th round, Gare went to the ground and was counted.

In June 2014 Jürgen Doberstein and his team founded Doberstein Promotion GmbH. In July 2014, Doberstein won points against Matingu Kindele, which was not a title fight. On November 22, Jürgen Doberstein won the IBF Mediterranean title. Since March 2015 Jürgen Doberstein has been training under the Cuban Dr. Pedro Diaz in Miami. After two raids the Doberstein won by KO, he won the WBA intercontinental title on the 5th of December 2015 in the Saarlandhalle before domestic audience.
